F.A.Q.
Frequently Asked Questions for FYWoWTransmog
Q. What is this all about?
It’s about transmogrification, also known as transmog, or mogging, the ability in the MMMORPG known as World of Warcraft to make equipped armor and weapons look like another armor/weapon in the game. Not only does it allow for greater character customization, and eliminates the need to parade around in ugly, mismatching armor sets, some people have taken transmog to it’s own art form, creating new and creative looks, while still working within the limitations put in by the game mechanics. This blog hopes to highlight the artistry and creativity involved.
Q. It’s just collecting armor pieces and sticking them on a character, what’s so cool about that?
Well, when you do it that way, nothing. There is, however, a subset of the community that works hard at creating coordinated looks between armor pieces, weapons, mounts and companions. It can be surprisingly difficult to put together an outfit from a piece that isn’t a tier set. Tier transmog is nice too, don’t get me wrong. It’s a lot of hard work and effort to get a full set, even from old content, but some of the most spectacular transmog outfits I’ve seen have come from building an entire look around one obscure green quest reward.
Q. Well how do I submit to your blog?
That’s easier then pie, really. You can submit photos at the submission page found at http://fywowtransmog.tumblr.com/submit
You can add as much or as little information as you like, but ideally, the following info would be great:
1. Name and Realm of the Character Featured
2. List of the transmogged items. Links to wowhead are optional but greatly appreciated! It’s great to be able to show people how to obtain a piece they really like.
3. Any story or background about the look, or inspirations for putting it together!
Q. What if I want to submit a picture of a character that isn’t mine?
Well for now, I’m going to say that’s okay. If it becomes a problem, I’ll reconsider the policy at that time. Considering it’s a public realm, I can’t see people really minding. I’d still really like it if you include their name and realm at the very least, so I can verify them on the armory, and know who it is if they choose to contact me at a later date about the submission. I’d prefer it, however, if you stuck to your own characters, or got permission from your friends/guildmates/etc, before you posted.
Q. Someone submitted a picture of my character’s transmog and I don’t want it on your blog, what do I do!?
First off, I’m sorry you aren’t happy about being submitted. It really is a form of flattery, honest. However, its your character, and I want to make YOU happy. I’d like it if you could tell me the name/realm of the character’s armory page so I can verify it is indeed you. If you could remove, say your helm and pants right before doing so, that would really cement the verification. Then, just send me an ask @ http://fywowtransmog.tumblr.com/ask with that info and the post info, (aka post/23098447663/name-of-transmog-post ) I’ll get it sorted as soon as possible. Remember, tumblr doesn’t allow proper URL formatting in Asks!
